A Street Cat Named Bob – James Bowen

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

The moving, uplifting true story of an unlikely friendship between a man on the streets and the ginger cat who adopts him and helps him heal his life.

Anything cat related is RIGHT up my street (to be honest, if it were about any other animal I don’t think I’d have enjoyed it half as much!) This is a true story about a young man’s battle with addiction and homelessness, and the cat who saves his life.

First of all it really opened my eyes to the daily life and struggles of those living and working on the streets. It’s easy to assume that people end up in such situations because of something they’ve done wrong and mistakes they’ve made, and so often that is not the case. A series of unfortunate events and a lack of a support system – either financial or emotional – can lead anyone down this path.

Secondly, I absolutely ADORE Bob! I’ve tried to teach Colin some of Bob’s little knacks and tricks while reading this book, but to no avail! (Plus, I think he’s a bit too fat now to be carried around on my shoulders!)

This book is a simply written, uplifting read that you can dip in and out of easily. I’d also be really interested to see the movie based on the book – if you’ve already watched it let me know what you thought!
