Beauty Essentials – Budget vs Premium – Lip Crayons

I am absolutely obsessed with lip crayons!! They are a great way of giving your lips a pop of colour, whilst moisturising them at the same time (as opposed to drying them out, like some lipsticks do). I often wear my lip crayons now in place of lipsticks, even at special occasions like my lovely friend Clare’s wedding at the beginning of the month!

I was first introduced to lip crayons with the original – Clinique’s Chubby Stick. These cute little crayons come in 18 colours – my favourite for everyday is the pretty pink Curvy Candy. They are a little pricey at £17.00 a pop, but last a good few months even if like me you use them every day, multiple times a day!

I discovered the No7 alternative purely by chance! The very first time I decided to actually use the (often mentioned, and much loved) Boots No7 discount vouchers I was perusing the No7 counter and these caught my eye straight away! The packaging is not quite as swish, but other than that they look just like the Clinique originals. And even better, they are almost half the price! (And even less with the cheeky discount voucher!)

I decided to give them a go, and haven’t looked back!! There aren’t as many colours to choose from as the Clinique range – the No7 collection only has 9 colours – however I think I prefer the colours in the No7 range. I only ever bought Curvy Candy from Clinique, and No7′s Delicate Pink is a perfect match for this. They also have a fab, brighter, coral pink lip crayon – Tropical Beach – which I love for summer, clubbing and beach holidays! And the No7 crayons last just as long as the Clinique originals.

Verdict: I do love both of these products! Clinique has a much wider range of colours, however the No7 collection gets my vote on the colours-front, and is almost half-price! Whichever you opt for, I think moisturising lip crayons are a must for everyone’s handbags!
