I am incredibly lucky that Sam’s parents have the most DIVINE holiday home in the stunning town of Roses. It’s high up on the hillside looking over the harbour and into the mountains in the distance. The view from their balcony is INSANE; I can’t get enough of it and swear it gets better every time we visit! You get the sun all day, and glorious sunsets in the evening.
The location is just perfect for morning wanders with stunning views, and I love looking at all the different building and house designs along the way. There is also a 16th Century castle – Castell de la Trinitat – which offers yet more spectacular views of the bay below.
Beach days are my favourite days, and the beaches in and around Roses are the perfect combination of golden and sandy with clear blue waters. The sea is great for swimming, snorkelling and having a gander at the pretty fish, and there are also plenty of watersports to try – jet skis, banana boats, parasailing, paddle boarding – the list is endless!
As well as splashing around in the sea, we love heading to Karting Roses – Sam and I are diabolically competitive, but he has a distinct advantage as he can actually drive – and Aqua Brava water park (beware of the enema slide)
In the town of Roses there are so many fantastic places to eat. On the last day we went to tapas restaurant Gozos Mundanos; somewhere we’ve not been before but will definitely be returning to!! We had mussels, sashimi tuna, octopus, cod, scallops, and a chocolate magnum filled with fois gras!
We’re already planning another trip out to Roses in October, and I can’t wait to discover more little treasures!
