The Met Gala – a benefit event to raise money for the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute – takes place every year and is THE NY fashion event to be seen at and at which to showcase your most daring designs and outfits. The theme this year was ‘Heavenly Bodies – Fashion and the Catholic Imagination’.
Here are my favourite looks from the red carpet:
Blake Lively’s Versace gown reportedly took 600 hours to create and was so large that she had to arrive in a party bus.
Ariana Grande donned a Vera Wang dress inspired by the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel for her first Met Gala appearance.
Cara Delevingne’s catholic confessional inspired gown by Dior Haute Couture was topped off with a new purple pixie cut.
Zendaya – my ultimate girl crush at the moment – wore a custom made Versace number inspired by Joan of Arc.
Gigi Hadid also donned a Versace number; this one with a stained glass window design.
JLo hit the red carpet in a bejewelled and befeathered Balmain number.
Model Winnie Harlow looked angelic in Tommy Hilfiger.
Katy Perry arrived as an ACTUAL angel dressed in Versace.
Hailee Steinfeld – who has attended the Met Gala every year since the age of 14 – wore Prabal Gurung.
Rihanna went FULL PAPAL in custom Maison Margiela by John Galliano.
