The Ribble Valley in Lancashire is another beautiful part of the country I discovered on our little staycation earlier this month. J.R.R. Tolkien’s used the countryside in the Ribble Valley as inspiration for the Shire in the Lord of the Rings, and you can definitely see the resemblance. Think rolling green hills, gorgeous villages and bubbling streams and you’ve got the right idea. We also happened upon the stunning Stonyhurst College and had lunch in the most perfect country pub – aptly named the Shireburn Arms – in the lovely village of Hurst Green.
