Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class.

When they come for her, Sergeant Parks keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don’t like her. She jokes that she won’t bite. But they don’t laugh.

Melanie is a very special girl.

The Girl with all the Gifts was recommended to me a while ago by one of my friends who always has THE BEST book suggestions. I ordered it online, and had absolutely no idea what to expect. I was not disappointed.

This is quite honestly the best book I have read this year, and for a very long time. At first it seemed a little strange, as aspects of the plot and characters are revealed quite slowly, but that only added to the intrigue and suspense.

I have taken quite a long time to finish this book, but only because I didn’t want it to end! It is a fascinating and thrilling novel set in a dystopian United Kingdom, and the more that was revealed throughout the book, the more totally gripped I was.

I’m not going to give too much away as I think this is one of those books where it’s best going in totally blind, but it is a MUST read!!
