Disneyland Paris

My sister and I are both unashamed total Disney nuts. So when it came to deciding where to celebrate her 21st birthday this year, it was a no brainer!

We hopped on the Eurostar and within a couple of hours were in Marne-la-Vallée – home of Disneyland Paris. First of all we took a shuttle bus to dump our luggage and explore our hotel. Had we been feeling extravagant we would have loved to have stayed in the iconic pink Disneyland hotel, however the Newport Bay Club was a fabulous alternative. It’s a HUGE 4* nautical themed hotel just a 10 minute walk from the park.

The hotel had 2 lovely restaurants – an all-you-can-eat international buffet and a scrumptious a la carte – a gorgeous indoor/outdoor swimming pool complete with bubble pools (which we got all to ourselves!) and a cute Captain’s Bar lounge. The rooms were all decorated with a nautical theme in mind and with the essential Disney touches; it was adorable and I much preferred it to some of the other Disney hotels I’ve stayed in! We stayed for 3 nights, which was the perfect amount of time to see and do everything and still be able to have a lie-in in the morning!

March until May is Disneyland’s ‘Swing into Spring’ festival. The park is decorated with beautiful bright flowers and displays, and there are plenty of vibrant and colourful performances and parades, so there’s loads to see and do even if you’re not into rollercoasters and rides!

However if you are a bit of an adrenaline junkie, we’d highly recommend Crush’s Coaster, Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster in Disney Studios, and of course the classic Space Mountain in Disneyland Park (we went on them all multiple times!) As we went during the Park’s quieter season we didn’t have to wait more than 15 minutes for any of the rides, however I have also been in Summer before and the queues have been insane!

We had some great meals in some of the Park’s restaurants – the food and atmosphere in the Rainforest Cafe and Planet Hollywood in Disney Village were great – however the icing on the cake was my sister’s birthday lunch in Auberge de Cendrillon!

The restaurant was beautiful, the food was delicious, and was accompanied by conversation and dancing by some of Disney’s best-loved characters – we were joined by Cinderella, Ariel, Snow White and Prince Charming. The children were all in absolute awe, and we loved it too!

The highlight of the whole trip had to be the Disney Dreams display at night time. The fireworks, fountains and special effects were simply incredible – if you visit Disneyland you MUST see this!

We both had an amazing time, and it was the perfect way for my sister to celebrate the big 2-1!
