I was lucky enough to spend the last few days of 2015 in beautiful Barcelona! Despite it being winter, the weather was absolutely glorious, and we got to explore some of the top sites of the city in the sunshine ☺️
Here are my favourite spots in Barcelona:
La Sagrada Familia
La Sagrada Família is a large Roman Catholic church in Barcelona, designed by architect Antoni Gaudí. The gothic church was incomplete at the time of Gaudí’s death, and work still continues on it today.
The exterior of the building is covered in stunning sculptures and facades depicting religious scenes. For €15 you can explore the inside of the basilica, which I would highly recommend! The numerous stain glass windows cast glorious coloured light throughout the inside of the church, and the ceiling is incredible.
Las Ramblas is in the heart of the city centre, and cuts through the gothic quarter of the city down to the port of Barcelona. It is a lively hubbub of shops, stalls, restaurants and bars, and is a great starting point when visiting the city. You can also see some more stunning architecture by Gaudi along the Ramblas, and throughout the city.
Port of Barcelona
I love the sea, and the port of Barcelona has so many attractions set against the backdrop of the Mediterranean sea. You can take a cablecar and see the city from the sky, or I’d recommend visiting a rooftop bar and soaking up the view! My favourite is Hotel Duquesa de Cardona Barcelona which has a gorgeous rooftop terrace, complete with a mini pool, and you don’t need to be a guest at the hotel to make the most of the facilities!
